Wash the filters and check for blockages

Most Dyson vacuums have a built in safety system that stops the machine if it begins to overheat. This usually happens because the filters need washing or your machine is blocked. If your machine cuts out, unplug it and leave it for at least an hour to cool down. Remember to turn the power off and unplug the machine before you check the filters and look for blockages prior to re-starting the machine.

Please follow the appropriate routes to wash the filters and check for blockages.

Wash the filters

Your machine has two washable filters which require washing at least once every 3 months.

Remove the bin

Remove the clear bin from your machine by pressing the cyclone release catch as shown.

Remove the pre-filter

To remove filter A, lift the filter release catch on top of the bin to remove the filter from the machine.

Remove the post-filter

To remove filter B firstly recline the machine. Press the release catch located on the ball to release the filter cover. Press the red catch on the filter and pull out.

Wash the filters

Wash both filters in cold water only (Please do not use detergent, do not wash in a dishwasher or washing machine).

Repeat the steps until the water runs clear.

Filter B should be rinsed and tapped out until the water runs clear, then tapped out again to ensure all excess water is removed. This will normally require up to 10 rinses.

Dry filters

Leave filter to dry in a warm place until filter is completely dry.

Do not dry filter in a tumble dryer, microwave, oven, or near an open flame.

Reassemble the machine

Replace filters and test machine.
